Range Management

The committee was created in 2004 with a charge to develop a stewardship plan to manage the
problem of lead contamination. In our discharge of firearms we have deposited tons of lead on
club property which, unless alleviated, will leach into waterways causing environmental damage.
Corrective actions to date include:

Elimination of skeet and five stand stations
Relocation of shooting stations to avoid shooting into bodies of water

Testing pH of soil located between lead impact areas and bodies of water and applying
lime when soil pH is less than 6.5 to alleviate lead leaching into our stream
Testing of lead content of stream water in 2016 by ALS Global with results much better than the standards for drinking water

Construction of two abutments to capture all lead fired in the 100 yard target range and allow lead recovery
